The year of 50's.....

The French love chocolate but a little well known secret is they love lemon and lime more!  This guy turned 50 the day after I turned 50 :)   SO of course I was more than happy to make him a limon cake!  It was a wonderful evening, starting at Camel's Crossing for cocktails and dinner followed by dessert at Crooked Casa with a preview of the band!  So exciting, so wonderful!  Happy Birthday O!   Climbing into the next decade.... The Band!

A freakin' white buffalo.....WTF???

When your best friend is going to turn 50 and all the stops are pulled out for the party of a century you ask " What kind of cake can I make?"  When she responds chocolate you breathe a sigh of relief until she says and I want my spirit animal to be incorporated into the decor - ugghh....WHAT is your spirit animal?  Secretly hoping it will be something like say a yay-dee bug......but no you are presented with a white buffalo.  hmmmm....a white buffalo......how does that figure into a fabulous cake???  well it does with some creativity, help from friends who supplement with cupcakes (more than 100+ people were expected including Firehouse 5).  I was pretty pleased with the results and I think my BFF was too!  love you andria!! Spirit animal accompanied with many of his friends... I said Engine house 5 was expected!!  And hey when you are Boise Fire you can park right out front, run in and grab a hug and a piece of cake!  xoxo

SPIDER MAN!!

He seems to be all the rage.....wait a minute.....wasn't he all the rage when I was a kid?  well when a little bit requests a spider man cake he gets a spider man cake!  The cake.....red is really hard to get just right the neighbors loved the "cuttings"  so did Bill the next morning

Yay-dy Bug!

Making cakes for little ones is one of my favorite ways to share my love of cakes and this little one was certain for nearly a month that she wanted a "yay-dy bug cake"  I had to purchase a half round cake pan and a heat core pin but it has been quite some time since I have added to my inventory so I didn't mind one little bit!  The smile was worth it!  Cake was a vanilla (still searching for the perfect! recipe) with chocolate frosting and my usual white chocolate cream cheese buttercream (in all colors) coating the outside.

50 Tartlets for the Sweetest 50 Year Old

Making a cake in the middle of July is, as you know against Bosworth House Rule #2.  However for this girl I would have turned the oven on and in fact, I did turn the oven on, just not for long.  But let the record show I would have turned it on long enough to bake a cake and thought this would be the case until a week or so before her day.  All along I thought I would be making a gluten free cake of some sort (see previous post as a practice round) but at the last minute her desire changed from chocolate to "something lemon" and someone who is turning 50 deserves 50 desserts!!   Birthday girl with her 50 lemon tarts Must have been ok.....?

From Miss to Mrs.

This cake was a challenge.  I typically make my cakes the day OF the party.  I know they will be fresh, the decorations will be "just so" and if they aren't I can tweak them at the party.....not the case with this one.  I would not be there AND it had to be done a day and a half before the event.....the pressure!  This is exactly why I don't sell cakes for money, though I heard this one was a success even disguised as a gluten free chocolate delight!
