A freakin' white buffalo.....WTF???

When your best friend is going to turn 50 and all the stops are pulled out for the party of a century you ask "What kind of cake can I make?"  When she responds chocolate you breathe a sigh of relief until she says and I want my spirit animal to be incorporated into the decor - ugghh....WHAT is your spirit animal?  Secretly hoping it will be something like say a yay-dee bug......but no you are presented with a white buffalo.  hmmmm....a white buffalo......how does that figure into a fabulous cake???  well it does with some creativity, help from friends who supplement with cupcakes (more than 100+ people were expected including Firehouse 5).  I was pretty pleased with the results and I think my BFF was too!  love you andria!!
Spirit animal accompanied with many of his friends...

I said Engine house 5 was expected!!  And hey when you are Boise Fire you can park right out front, run in and grab a hug and a piece of cake!  xoxo

The vision for this cake creation has been in my thoughts for about three months.  In July we spent a week on the Oregon coast with our dear friends including their soon to be two year old adorable boy.  He was all about the fish.  Fish in the ocean, fish at the aquarium, fish in the souvenir shops, fishy, fishy fishy.  The cake was vanilla with my stand-by favorite buttercream frosting.  All of the embellishments were edible, that is if you like sugar candy!  Super fun cake to make and share.  The two year old's comment? "Whoa...."  "Fishy"

I wish when I had turned 21 I was as composed as the young young lady is!       In Boise on Spring Break from Cal Poly she came to celebrate with her elders.  Not only is she beautiful but she's smart!  One of three students a warded the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) in STEM Undergraduate Research Scholarship for Summer 2018.    It was a true honor to create this cake for her to celebrate her coming of age party.   Happy Birthday Miranda!!

This cake was a challenge.  I typically make my cakes the day OF the party.  I know they will be fresh, the decorations will be "just so" and if they aren't I can tweak them at the party.....not the case with this one.  I would not be there AND it had to be done a day and a half before the event.....the pressure!  This is exactly why I don't sell cakes for money, though I heard this one was a success even disguised as a gluten free chocolate delight!
