Statute of Limitations....?

Does something exist like this for a published recipe?  I hope not and if it does then I hope someone out there policing such things does not call me out.  When I first began this blog someone asked me if I planned to post recipes .  I had to think about that for awhile but ultimately I decided no, I wouldn't post actual recipes.  If you are determined enough (and know me well enough) I will share any recipe with you,  should you simply ask.

{{WARNING:  Side tangent}}  In fact I will offer to bake a cake with (or for) you.  Dang!! I wish I had photos from every cake I have ever created.  Some years ago, an acquaintance wanted a special cake for a friend of hers whom I didn't know and was celebrating a landmark birthday.  The acquaintance was referred to me as someone who might be able to help.  Long story short, the acquaintance showed up at my house at 8:30 am with her three year old child to bake an extraordinary birthday cake.   At 9:00 am we both became aware of the fact that she was not prepared for this experience nor had she come come prepared for her child.  After noon, I finally sent her out the door with her cake and wished her well.   The next day a very good friend told me  me about this landmark birthday party she had attended and how even I would have been impressed with the cake.  If you live where I do you know it is a very small community and yes the cake my girlfriend was drooling over WAS the cake I had baked that morning!    One of the many reasons I love living where I do....so just ask for the recipe or hell, ask me to bake the cake and I am likely to do it!

So while I resolved not to post every recipe to the blog I will post this one.  " Chill, Don't Bake, for Creamy Icebox Cakes "   Refer to Bosworth House Rule #1 as to why I chose to make one of these cakes in the hottest month of the year!  Unfortunately I don't have any photos but can tell you the crowd devoured two of these cakes.  Now you just have to guess which one I made.....if you can't figure out which one I made then i encourage you to make all three, as they all are wonderful.

The vision for this cake creation has been in my thoughts for about three months.  In July we spent a week on the Oregon coast with our dear friends including their soon to be two year old adorable boy.  He was all about the fish.  Fish in the ocean, fish at the aquarium, fish in the souvenir shops, fishy, fishy fishy.  The cake was vanilla with my stand-by favorite buttercream frosting.  All of the embellishments were edible, that is if you like sugar candy!  Super fun cake to make and share.  The two year old's comment? "Whoa...."  "Fishy"

I wish when I had turned 21 I was as composed as the young young lady is!       In Boise on Spring Break from Cal Poly she came to celebrate with her elders.  Not only is she beautiful but she's smart!  One of three students a warded the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) in STEM Undergraduate Research Scholarship for Summer 2018.    It was a true honor to create this cake for her to celebrate her coming of age party.   Happy Birthday Miranda!!

From Miss to Mrs.

This cake was a challenge.  I typically make my cakes the day OF the party.  I know they will be fresh, the decorations will be "just so" and if they aren't I can tweak them at the party.....not the case with this one.  I would not be there AND it had to be done a day and a half before the event.....the pressure!  This is exactly why I don't sell cakes for money, though I heard this one was a success even disguised as a gluten free chocolate delight!
